Are you moving to a new house? Or just using the extra time you have at home to organize and decorate your rooms? Either way, incorporating feng shui into your home is a great way to release fresh energy at any moment. There is no wrong time to prioritize harmonized environments—because bad feng shui in the home can cause tension, stress, mental fog, and even insomnia. Ready to use feng shui crystals and techniques to invite equilibrium and good energy back? Let’s get started.
The Basics of Feng Shui
What is feng shui, anyway? Most people understand that you’ve got to move furniture around every once in a while to break up stagnant energy. They even have their favorite crystals around the house to absorb negative vibrations and cultivate positive energy. Those basics are great starting points! Even if that’s all you ever do, you’re doing a great job.
The term “feng shui” translates from Chinese to “wind” and “water.” It is the concept that connects human life with the flowing environment around us. The goal? Creating a balance between the individual and their environment. So without further ado, here are some simple tips to ensure you have excellent feng shui in your home.
Slow Down Fast-Moving Energy
One way to ensure you have bad feng shui in your home is by letting the energy remain chaotic. Fast-moving energy can happen anytime there is a direct line between the front door and the back door, in a hallway, or near a staircase. Do you see the visual? It’s pretty clear now how that can interfere with our daily life.
The energy can move through these portals very quickly, causing chaotic energy. To help that energy move more gracefully throughout, try hanging a crystal between those two entries (or exit) points. This disperses the energy immediately.
Cleanse the Energy with Smoke
Along the same lines as fast-moving chi is stale or negative chi. If you are just moving in, you could be moving to a home with energy residue from the previous owners. If they had low vibrations or argued a lot, you could be living in their past energies. On the other hand, if you have lived in your home for a long time but had never cleared it, you could have your own negative energy hanging around. Now’s the time to eliminate the old and invite in the new.
To cleanse the home, grab a sage stick or Palo santo. Once lit, take the smoke and disperse it throughout the house. Move from room to room, spending some time in each room to fill it both with the smoke and with positive intentions. Give the room new meaning and fresh life. Be sure to get corners and closets, where stagnant energy could be hiding.
Feng Shui Crystals in the Home
Stones have a certain relatability to feng shui. They both connect to the environment around us. While feng shui brings us good energies, crystals bring us high vibrations. You need both to have a happy, healthy home. You’ll want to keep your crystals near classic elements (earth, wind, fire, water, metal) because of their connection to nature. Our favorites? Putting crystals on display in a terrarium glass case filled with small plant life.
For a successful feng shui crystal placement in your home, you’ll want clusters of crystals to be placed in the Center, Northeast, Northwest, West, or Southwest (according to principles of feng shui).
We are fans of finding the perfect crystal for each intention and necessity! It’s fun to pick and choose crystals to enhance the vibrations in your living room, for example, or invite peace into your children’s playroom. Crystal lamps are an excellent way of incorporating the healing energy of crystals into different areas of your home.
But if you’re feeling stuck on which crystal to help cleanse the bad feng shui in your home, try a feng shui crystal tree. It is believed to bring wealth and prosperity. The small crystal chips that hang from the tree are said to deflect bad energy that interferes with success.
You can also try Feng Shui hanging crystals. These faceted lead crystal spheres made of crystal glass look like crystal balls, but they are total energy healers. Place them where you feel fast-moving chi, above sinks to promote harmony and prosperity, or an area of the house with too many doors. Too many doors cause chaotic chi to “speak” to one another.
Feng Shui Crystals in the Bedroom
Usually, the above Feng Shui tips will come in handy when placing crystals in your home. Break up long or narrow areas of the home with crystals; place them near natural elements when possible, et cetera. But one unique place to think about feng shui and crystals is in the bedroom. That’s because it’s an airy space where you need to relax after a long day and rest.
When it comes to good energy flow in the bedroom, less is more. You can quickly become overstimulated before bed. Just as you wouldn’t want electronics in the bedroom if your goal is to shut off racing thoughts and go to sleep, you also wouldn’t want too many crystals that stimulate your mind. With that said, avoid high-frequency stones such as Sunstone and other orange or yellow-hued stones, which are typically energy-inducing. According to feng shui, you’ll also want to avoid placing anything that could collect energy underneath your bed. This goes for storage as well as for crystals. That means if you truly wish to keep a crystal under your mattress or pillow because it relaxes you or helps with romance or dreams in the bedroom, be sure to cleanse it frequently.
Pick & Choose Your Chi Solution
While crystal trees and hanging crystals are great one-size-fits-all solutions, don’t forget that any stone can be a solution to the energy that is negatively affecting you. Cleansing and rearranging your home according to feng shui principles is always a good idea, but take the time to feel your home. Where exactly is the negative vibe coming from? Where are you “stuck?” Stuck at work? You could just need to clean your home office and include Tourmaline on your desk, for example. You can always browse crystals to find one that suits your unique energetic needs!
