Guide to Ametrine and its Healing Properties

Ametrine is a rare type of quartz that hails from Bolivia. As you can probably guess from its name, the crystal contains a natural mix of both amethyst and citrine. If that doesn’t sound like a powerful combo, nothing will.

The stone itself is a dazzling yellow, blended perfectly with a more gentle hue of purple. Like staring into the heart of a nebula, it’s cloudy, mysterious, and utterly alluring all at once. The colors complement each other really well, making this a stone that can suit any outfit.

Ametrine History

Sourced commercially from only one mine in Bolivia, ametrine is something of a rarity nowadays. It was originally found by Spanish conquistadors in the 17th century. The mine was given to the founder as a dowry during his marriage to a native princess. It was introduced to Europe via Spain as a gift to the queen.

Shortly afterward, the mine became lost to history, only being rediscovered 300 years later. The mine was then named Anahi Mine, after the native princess. By the 1970s, ametrine started to enter the market.

Today, Anahi Mine produces ametrine as well as natural amethyst and citrine. It’s located in rural Bolivia, only accessible by a short domestic flight, or a long journey by road and river. It’s no wonder that the mine was lost for so long!

Ametrine Physical Healing Properties

Known to be a great crystal for the blood, ametrine supports patients going through transplants or transfusions. It ensures the blood stays optimally oxygenated and is also known to improve metabolism and help with chronic fatigue.

Absorbing some of the amethyst’s properties, ametrine is a great crystal to have if you’re trying to quit a bad habit or addiction. It reduces the urge to break your progress and helps you keep in control of your cravings. This is particularly true with smoking or sticking to a diet.

When cravings become overwhelming and you feel close to a relapse, hold ametrine tight against your navel for a few minutes and the cravings will subside. You can also use this technique to counteract panic attacks.

Ametrine is also supportive of the immune system, helping you recover faster from colds, coughs, and the flu with relative ease.

Ametrine Metaphysical Healing Properties

Ametrine is widely considered to be a stone of peace. It boosts your tolerance of others and encourages you to resolve conflict through peaceful means. It brings people closer together and merges the boundaries that so often divide and separate. It makes us more aware of our prejudices so that we can stop unfounded beliefs in their tracks. Ametrine sees all humans as equal, regardless of race, sex, religion, skin tone, or ethnicity; and it convinces the wearer to do the same.

Ametrine is the ideal crystal for success and it reminds you that it isn’t necessary to abandon your moral code to win. You don’t need to be selfish to be rich. It’s brilliant for helping you see the bigger picture and ensuring that work doesn’t take over your life. This is especially true for people who are their own boss—there’s a fine balance between providing for a family, and caring for a family. Ametrine helps you identify your line and know when it’s time to call it a day.

How to use Ametrine

Cassandra Eason suggests that ametrine can be used to remove what no longer works for you from your life, and replace it with what you want. She says, “Hold ametrine, name what is bad in your life, wash the crystal, then hold it up to sunlight or natural light and name what you want to bring into your life.” This little exercise could work wonders for you if you have something you want to release.

Ametrine is a great stone for stress-relief. It draws power from both the sun and the moon, helping you maintain enthusiasm and energy for longer without significant drawbacks. Amethyst eases tension while citrine welcomes joy and positive energy, making ametrine a healing wonder stone of epic proportions. It brings an unrivaled sense of well-being to the mind, body, and spirit.

Talking of spirit, ametrine is said to be the gateway to the spirit realm, empowering you to communicate with your spirit guide or even angelic entities. It’s a fantastic stone for finding direction, purpose, and clarity. It puts you in the driver’s seat and gives you full reign over your own life. Be as creative, innovative, and free as you can be!

To utilize citrine’s money-attracting properties within ametrine, leave it for the night under the full moon, then put it in your purse. When you next invest in something or buy a lottery ticket, ametrine will influence the direction of wealth and send it your way.

Ametrine is also known as a deep soul healer. It imbues clarity when looking inwards at pre-existing issues, and encourages you to see them from an outsider’s perspective and spot the underlying cause. In doing so, it brings emotional distress to the surface and empowers you to let go of it in a healthy manner. Judy Hall sums up this quality well in her book, Crystal Companions, when she says, “[Ametrine’s] powerful cleansing properties disperse negativity from the aura and toxins from the body.”

As one of the rarer gemstones in the crystal world, ametrine can be difficult to get a hold of, but it’s well worth the effort. What other crystal combines the energy of two stones as powerful as amethyst and citrine?
